CONTEXT
The Italian healthcare sector, and specifically that of the Puglia Region, is facing significant challenges related to the management of non-communicable diseases, particularly oncological ones. These pathologies represent one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality, requiring a multidisciplinary and personalized approach for their management. The complexity of oncological treatments based on Diagnostic-Therapeutic Care Pathways (DTCP), which include the phases of early diagnosis, personalized therapies, continuous follow-up, and psychological support, requires advanced and integrated solutions that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical processes.
CONCEPT
The "In-PAttO" project aims to develop an advanced integrated system for the planning and control of oncological treatments, with the objective of personalizing therapies and promoting healthy lifestyles. The main features and performance goals to be achieved include the creation of a platform that integrates clinical, diagnostic, and lifestyle data from various sources to support personalized medical decisions. Artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms will be developed to analyze patient data and provide personalized recommendations for cancer treatments. Furthermore, the project includes the implementation of tools to monitor and encourage healthy behaviors among patients, with a particular focus on prevention and general well-being. The system will be designed to be interoperable with other healthcare platforms and systems, capable of scaling to handle a large volume of data and users. Finally, operational efficiency will be improved through the automation of clinical and administrative processes, and the precision of diagnoses and treatments will be increased through the use of advanced technologies. These features will enable the optimization of the care pathway for oncological patients, improving both the effectiveness of treatments and the quality of life of the patients.
BENEFITS
The project targets specific socio-health and economic issues and a PACT between the healthcare system and the citizen, namely: appropriateness of treatments, personalization of care, and therefore quality of the service offered, adherence, adoption of healthy lifestyles, and proactive patient engagement. The expected benefits are therefore an improvement in healthcare efficiency and the guarantee of the best quality of care.
2038IC ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE PROJECT
2038IC is involved in the implementation of all ORs, with particular responsibility for the following activities:
- Analysis and study of monitoring and follow-up processes for oncological patients: in this task, the main characteristics of the system and the domain will be identified, as well as the specific requirements needed for the follow-up and monitoring solution regarding therapeutic compliance and patient lifestyles within the clinical-healthcare context.
- Design of the Follow-up and Monitoring Tool: in this task, tools for managing data related to the clinical-healthcare pathway and patients' lifestyles will be studied and designed, as well as innovative human-machine interfaces to ensure user-centered design and the monitoring of therapeutic adherence.
- Development of the Follow-up and Monitoring Tool: in this task, the prototyping of the reference technological component will be completed, in line with the outputs identified and formalized in the previous tasks.
